FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Medical AI Search Lab — the site's position, the difference between AI search, LLMO and SEO, how our role differs from consulting or production firms, and which medical institutions we address.
- What is LLMO?
- LLMO stands for Large Language Model Optimization, an approach to information design, structuring, and external-information maintenance that makes information easier for large language models such as ChatGPT and for AI search to read correctly. It does not guarantee display, recommendation, or citation in AI search; it is treated as an approach to improving the consistency of the information that AI references.
- What is the difference between SEO and LLMO?
- SEO is the effort to be more easily found on the search results pages of search engines. LLMO is information design that makes information about medical institutions and doctors easier for AI to grasp correctly when AI such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews generates answers and compares candidates. The two are not separate things; they overlap significantly in areas such as structured data, author information, and clearly stated sources.
- Do medical institutions need to address AI search?
- As patients increasingly consult not only Google search but also ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Perplexity, medical institutions need to understand how they are being read by AI. In particular, locality, specialization, doctor information, reviews, official website content, FAQs, and external information can all become material for comparison. However, display or citation in AI search cannot be controlled directly, and the basic approach is the accumulation of observation and information maintenance.
- Is there a method to always be displayed in AI search?
- There is not. Display, citation, and recommendation in AI search vary depending on each platform's algorithm, referenced information, the wording of the question, the conversational context, and the timing, so no method exists to guarantee a specific output. This Lab, too, does not guarantee AI search ranking improvement, does not guarantee placement on a specific platform, and does not guarantee recommendation by a specific AI agent. The value we provide is concentrated on observation, visualization, and the organizing of improvement points.
- Do Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, and Perplexity give different results?
- Yes. Answer tendencies change depending on the AI service, the model, whether web search is used, the wording of the question, the flow of the conversation, and the timing. For that reason, judging by a single "appeared / did not appear" is insufficient; observing across combinations of multiple models x multiple question conditions x multiple trials makes it easier to grasp the tendencies in how your clinic is treated.
- Why do only competitor clinics appear in AI?
- Large medical institutions and highly recognized clinics may have more pages, reviews, external listings, portal information, branded searches, and brand awareness. However, in patients' specific consultations, there is room for small and medium-sized clinics and medical institutions with specialized expertise to also enter the comparison candidates. The conditions under which AI assembles comparison candidates often do not match the real-world sense of competition such as price range, market area, and patient demographics, and this Lab treats that gap as an object of observation.
- How is this different from consulting firms or web production companies that address AI search?
- This Lab is not a service premised on website production outsourcing, SEO implementation outsourcing, or ongoing consulting contracts; it is positioned as a verification-report-type product that provides observation results and improvement briefs. By providing "verification material" prior to the implementation phase of consulting firms and production companies, it aims to standardize the decision-material part of consulting in a software-like manner. It is not premised on replacing existing consulting firms or production companies; it serves the role of functioning as an independent verification perspective that precedes each of their implementations.
- Is the Medical AI Search Lab a medical information site for patients?
- No. The main audience is the management, directors, administrative heads, and marketing leads of medical institutions. It is not a site that recommends specific treatments or medical institutions to patients. Even when articles deal with the context of patient consultations, they treat it not as treatment advice to patients but as a point of discussion regarding the medical institution's own information design and LLMO perspective.
- What kinds of medical institutions does it target?
- It targets medical institutions in general, including clinics, medical offices, and hospitals. Not limited to aesthetic clinics, and regardless of insured or self-pay care, it treats as objects of observation the situations in which patients compare medical institutions through AI and search.
